New Normal?

As a result of the Corona Virus of 2019, the world has changed. The old ways of watching children whether, at school, daycare, or enrichment programs looks like a fantasy world. As Americans, we were accustomed to the many freedoms that we took for granted. We never could have predicted that one day we would have to give up the face to face experience.

Teaching children looks strange with masks and the appropriate social distancing. Having to wash your hands moreover just to be sure there is no trace of COVID. Now Virtual Classrooms have taken hold of the learning experience, with the internet going in and out. Now suddenly face to face learning is the way of the past or is it? For example, sounding out words for children using your mouth is a possible dangerous thing to do. One may mistakenly spit on the child or the child sneezes on the teacher.

I never thought the world would be like this in my lifetime. As a parent and someone who works with children, I can’t help but think about those that may not be able to afford the internet or computer. Some don’t have the luxury to be the appropriate distance (6 feet apart) from their Grand Parents or caregivers because they rely on them so much. There will be children left behind, however, we that have a heart and the ability to meet requirements should step up to the plate. The new normal does not have to mean the end of helping others by teaching. We MUST adapt and find within ourselves the know-how that has blessed this nation. It will take Our Village to help Our children to make Our Future better!
